The Derby will consist of a course containing both stadium style and cross country style fences.
The questions on the course will be relative to each particular level:
Each horse/rider can sign up for a maximum of 3 rounds. They can be at the same level or concurrent levels. If riders are sharing a horse, a single horse can do a maximum of 3 rounds. SAVE MONEY by signing up for three rounds today - the day of the show additional rounds will be $20 EACH and will only be added AS TIME ALLOWS.
Riders will be given an exact start time (like cross country). There will be only one rider on the course at a time (like stadium). Once the final course is set, it will be measured and an optimum time will be set. This will be posted the day before the show on all course maps.
Course will be open for walking at 3:00pm on September 9, 2011 and before the start of the show on September 10. Also at SET BREAKS during the show between each division. There will be NO course walking during the rides.

- Starter Novice. A very basic introduction to the sport of eventing with fences. Not Timed. 8 - 12 fences, maximum 18”. No banks, ditches or water on course. Stadium Fences, cross rails and ground poles
- Beginner Novice. Fences maximum 2’7" - Timed - Optimum speed = 300 mpm*. 10 - 12 fences. Water, Banks and/or ditches option. Stadium Fences with no combinations.
- Novice. Fences maximum 2’11” - Timed - Optimum speed = 350 mpm*. 14 - 18 fences. Water, Banks and ditches included. Stadium Fences with combinations.
- *Course will contain banks, ditches and water (if naturally available)

- One Round = $55 today
- Two Rounds = $70 today (day of show $75)
- Three Rounds = $80 today (day of show $95)

- Refusal at any type of obstacle = 20 points
- Knock down of a stadium style obstacle = 5 points
- Any second over the optimum = 1 point
- Any second more than 10 seconds under the optimum time = 1 point
- Any second less than 10 seconds under the optimum time = 0.5 points
- Fall of rider = Elimination. At the discretion of the judge you will be able to remount and finish the course.
- Fall of horse = Mandatory retirement
- If you have three (3) refusals at any one obstacle, you may go around the obstacle and continue on the course.
- If you have 3 refusals at ANOTHER obstacle, you will be asked to walk off the course.
